Hiring a caterer for an event can be daunting and you will probably have many questions. Don’t worry, you are not alone. People have many common questions when they call us, or we meet them to discuss their requirements, especially if it is their first time hiring a caterer. For most people, hiring a caterer is not an everyday occurrence, so it is perfectly reasonable for there to be some unknowns. We address many of the frequently asked questions here.

If there is a kitchen at the venue then would generally prefer to use that if possible. We do have our own equipment which we can set up to form a kitchen in something like a marquee, for example, but this would likely be at extra cost owing to the set-up and take-down time.

The requirements for every event are different and, therefore, so will be the price. However, here are some figures to give you an idea when making your plans.

Canapes: 
From £10-£12 per head.  Includes high-grade, eco-friendly plates and napkins.

Hot/Cold Fork Buffet
From £20 per head

Afternoon Tea
From £12 per head, including high-grade, eco-friendly plates and napkins.

Dinner Party / Dining
From £25 per head for 3 courses.
From £20 per head for 2 courses.

All of the above prices will depend on the menu chosen, the event location, and the facilities available to us.

Extras that can be provided include crockery, cutlery, table linen, glasses, tableware, serving staff, waitresses and waiters.  These would also incur additional costs.

Absolutely. We always endeavour to leave the kitchen and serving areas in a better state than we arrive.

Yes, we have £5m personal liability insurance.  

We can provide waiting staff, at extra cost. The need for waiters and waitresses, and how many, really depends on the size and nature of your event. Sit-down dining events will most likely require more staff, for example, than a help-yourself buffet.

Wine can be included with a catering package, at an additional cost.

We are very fortunate to be able to offer both aspects of hospitality – food and drink.  We are in a fairly unique position in this regard and can put to good use our wide expertise at events where we can cover both of these important aspects.  Things like a BBQ or hog roast make good companions to a mobile bar for an outdoor event or festival, for example.

A buffet or selection of canapés can really add to a cocktail bar evening.

Call us to discuss a combination service as it will work out cheaper than hiring two companies at once.

You do not need any permits or licences to serve food. If alcohol is given to your guests, such as wine on the table for a meal, then you should not need a Temporary Event Notice (TEN).  However, if alcohol is to be sold to your guests, perhaps by having a paid bar, then a licence will be required.  As we also provide bars, we are experienced in arranging or helping customers arrange TENs where needed.  At “least” 10 days should be allowed before the event when applying.

We provide a wide range of catering options that satisfy the needs for most events. We can provide simple canapés for an office or drinks party, village hog roasts, BBQs and spit roasts at festivals, cold buffets for funerals or other social functions, hot buffets, afternoon tea, or multi-course sit-down meals for dinner parties or a wedding.

Whatever your event, we are sure that we can offer something tasty to feed your guests, indoors or outdoors, standing or sitting.

We are based in Buckinghamshire and easily cater for customers in Bucks, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes but we also travel further afield.  For larger or longer events we can travel nationwide including places such as Avon, Wiltshire, London, Birmingham and so on.  Just ask. For longer distances, there may be a small surcharge but this will depend on the size of the event.
